The distinctive building of the Naerumaa Kindergarten was designed by the architecture firm Boa, and the playful outdoor area surrounding the building was designed by the TajuRuum bureau. The vibrant interior design was created by Lennuk Interior Architects. The kindergarten building has been designed as a nearly zero-energy building – the walls and ceilings are designed to be as thermally efficient as possible, and solar panels have been installed on the roof of the lower wing to cover part of the building’s energy needs. Additionally, the green roof plays an important role in maintaining stable indoor climate, preventing the building from overheating while retaining warmth. In the expanded street space in front of the kindergarten, there is a playground for young children, a ping pong table, skateable surfaces, and seating options. The goal of the landscape architects in creating this environment was to enhance the quality of the surroundings – on one side, the Naerumaa kindergarten is adjacent to the undergoing restoration of the Maarja church, while on the other side are the apartment buildings from the Soviet era on Kuperjanovi street.
